Abstract

This study aims to describe the scientific approach through the NHT model in improving students' higher-order thinking skills in buffer solution topics. The method was quasi-experiment with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this research was all students of class XI MIPA High School Bandar Lampung 2018/2019 academic year. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, obtained class XI MIPA 2 as the experimental class and XI MIPA 1 as the control class. The data analysis technique used the parametric statistical test, which is an independent sample t-test. In this study, the average n-Gain of the experimental class is higher than the average n-Gain control class. After testing the difference in the two average values obtained sig. which is equal to 0,000 which means that there are significant differences between the average n-Gain higher-order thinking skills in experimental class and control. This shows that the scientific approach through the NHT model is effective for improving students' higher-order thinking skills. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pendekatan saintifik melalui model NHT untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa pada materi larutan penyangga. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah quasi experiment dengan pretest and postest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas XI MIPA SMA Bandar Lampung.Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling.Sampel dalam penelitian ini kelas XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol.Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan uji parametrik, yaitu uji independent samples t-test.Pada penelitian ini rata-rata n-Gain kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari pada rata-rata n-Gain kelas kontrol.Setelah dilakukan uji perbedaan dua rata-rata, diperolehnilaisebesar 0,00 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan rata-rata n-Gainketerampilan berpikir tingkat tinggipada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa pendekatan saintifik melalui model NHT efektifuntuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Kata kunci :larutan penyangga, HOTS, pendekatan saintifik, NHT.
