Abstract

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) has a high economic, ecology and social value. Nutmeg was one of the plants that highly prefered in the development of social forestry. The purpose of the study was to analyze the productivity and potential of nutmeg in community forest (HKm) of Rangai Sejahtera. This study was designed in a system random sampling (SRS) to select the samples. Vegetation analysis used to determine the vegetation status. Direct interviews conducted to collect data of nutmeg productivity and average selling prices. Quantitative analysis used to determine the nutmeg productivity and the potential for production of nutmeg in the area. The results showed that in the area of Hkm Rangai Sejahtera, there were only 6 spesies of plants were found. i.e. 5 MPTs and 1 estate crop. Nutmeg was ecologicaly the most important spesies in the area with an important value index (IVI) of 104.67%, it has density of 80.6 plants/ha, a frequency of 100% and a dominance of 0.51 m2/ha. The average productivity of nutmeg in HKm Rangai Sejahtera was 60kg/tree/yr, in a nutmeg density of 80.6 trees/ha, the productivity per ha was 4,836 kg/ha. In an total area of HKm Rangai Sejahtera (420 ha), the potential production of nutmeg was 2,031,120 kg/yr. Key words : Nutmeg; Hkm Rangai Sejahtera; MPTS
