Abstract
The derivatives of organotin(IV) carboxylates are continue to attract interest due to their strong biological activity. This paper aims to report the synthesis of the derivative of organotin(IV) carboxylate of diphentyltin(IV) di-3-nitrobenzoate and triphenyltin(IV) 3-nitrobenzoate and perform antibacterial activities of the compounds synthesized. These compounds were prepared by reacting the diphenyltin(IV) dihydroxide and triphenyltin(IV) hydroxide with 3-hydroxybenzoic acid. These compounds were then characterized by IR and UV spectroscopies as well as microanalytical elementer. These compounds were then tested with antibacterial activities againts Pseudomonas aeruginosa dan Bacillus subtilis and antimalarial activity test. The results of the test with diffusion method showed that triphenyltin(IV) 3-nitrobenzoate was active towards P. Aeruginosa in concentration of 4.02 x 10-4 M, while diphentyltin(IV) di-3-nitrobenzoate in concentration of 4.31 x 10-4 M againts B. Subtilis. The results of antimalarial activity test againts Plasmodium falcifarum showed that the IC50 were 5.4 x 10-2 and 9.0 x 10-3 µg/mL, respectively, while the positive control the chloroquine has IC50 of 2 x 10-3 µg/mL, although the IC50 of the compound tested were higher than the control, but unlike chloroquine, all these organotin(IV) compounds prepared are not resistent to the Plasmodium.
