Abstract

The objectives of this research are firstly to investigate the Application Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach in improving students' English writing ability, and secondly to answer what factors influence students' writing Performance.The Subject of the research were the students of senior high school in Indonesia consisting of a group of students as experimental group and control group. The results showed that their writing after they were involved in Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach. further more, the study also showed that level of students' critical thinking did nit have any significant effect towards their writing achievement.
