Abstract
The national issue character is now in the public spotlight. Alternative many of which were put forward to address issues of national character and diversity is education. As a preventive alternative to education expected to develop the nation‘s young generation quality in various ways aspects that can unravel the various national character problems causes and more appreciate the meaning of diversity in the nation and state lifes. Wrong an effort to develop character education and diversity can be explored from culture that develops in the surrounding community environment, namely values philosophical originating from the Grebeg Sudiro tradition in Surakarta. Tradition Grebeg Sudiro can be reality presented in the study of social science in schools as historical studies or sociology studies, can be used as reinforcement character education and diversity.
