Abstract

As many as 39% of the world's population aged 18 years are overweight. In Indonesia, the adult population that have first and second degree of obese reached 13.5% and 15.4%. Overweight and obese increase the risk of chronic health problems, such as ischemic heart disease, cardiovascular disease and metabolic diseases. In addition, being overweight and obese also affects a psychology, especially the female teenager who want an ideal body image. It leads women to do a diet.Nowadays, the popular dietis detox diet. Detox diet means calories restriction, intermittent fasting, and juice only as a daily intake. Intermittent fasting affects the human body by reprogramming circadian rhythms so that it can lower body weight and reduce the risk of chronic disease. A diet with lemon juice is clinically proven to reduce body fat.Calories restriction in detox diet, either with lemon juice or intermitten fasting, lead the body to starvation state then it will provoke the physiological process of the body to survive. As the result, the body will be in ketoacidosis condition and muscle atrophy due to reduce of the mass protein. Therefore, this diet cannot be used in a long term. Research is still needed to prove the detox diet and detoxification mechanism for this diet program.
