Abstract
Cassava agribusiness has a significant impact on sustainable development in Indonesia (especially in the agricultural sector). However, cassava agribusiness still has many challenges that need to be addressed starting from the supply subsystems for production, cultivation or production, harvest and post-harvest facilities including processing of products, institutions, to the marketing subsystem. Partnerships between actors in the cassava agribusiness system are believed as an approach that has the potential to support cassava agribusiness toward sustainability. Several partnership models have been carried out, but currently there is no any partnership model in the agribusiness sector (especially between farmers and factories) in Lampung Province. This study aims (1) to analyze the causes of the termination of partnerships and (2) to analyze the determinants influencing the willingness of farmers to involve in partnerships in the future. The study was conducted at the cassava production center in Lampung Province, which are at East Lampung Regency and Central Lampung Regency. Respondents were taken by simple random sampling as many as 63 cassava farmers who had made partnerships and 63 cassava farmers who had never made a partnership. The analytical method used was credible quantitative analysis (heckprobit regression) combined with qualitative analysis. The results of the study show that partnerships generally end at the will of the farmers based on conditions that farmers do not want to have a debt burden, there are many cassava sales agents, partnerships are not in accordance with the contents of the agreement, and bad administration of partnership. The willingness of farmers to make partnerships is directly influenced by the variables 'barriers to sell to non-factories' and 'types of planted commodities'. Keywords: Cassava agribusiness, heckprobit, partnership
