Abstract

This study aimed to describe the effectiveness of POGIL model to increase science process skills (SPS) in electrolyte and non electrolyte solution topic. The population of this research was all students science ten’s grade. The sampling used purposive sampling technique and obtained class X Science 4 as the experimental class and X Science 2 as the control class. This method of this research used Quasi Experiment with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data analysis used two difference on average test used the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the average n-gain of SPS students in the experimental class was higher than the average n-gain of SPS students in the control class. Based on these results it can be concluded that learning with POGIL model is effective to increase science process skills in electrolyte and non electrolyte solution topic. Keywords: electrolyte and non electrolyte solution, POGIL model, and SPS.
