Abstract
ABSTRACT The purposes of this study were to evaluate the effect of ethepon concentration on the inhibition of vegetative growth of two varieties of cassava plant to evaluate the effect of varieties on cassava production and growth, to determine the effect of ethepon concentration on two varieties of cassava on the inhibition of growth and increased production.This research used the Thailand and Kasetsat variety of cassava cuttings measuring 25 cm were aged 8-12 months. The treatments were arranged factorially (8 x 2) in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 replicates being made as a group, each group consisting of 16 sub samples. The first factor in research was the treatment of various ethepon concentrations is 0 ml/L; 0,5 ml/L; 1 ml/L; 1,5 ml/L; 2 ml/L; 2,5 ml/L; 3 ml/L; 3,5 ml/L. The second factor are two cassava varieties, Thailand and Kasetsat. Ethepon was applied through leaves on 60-day-old plants with observation variables; plant heigh, number of fresh leaves; wet weight of leaves, stems, and tuber roots; and dry weight of leaves, stems, and tuber roots. The results showed that the aplication of 3.5 ml ethepon / l through leaves with volume of 50 ml per plant highly influenced on vegetative inhibition cassava plant. Inhibiting vegetative growth of Thailand was more susceptible than Kasetsat. Yet ethepon application did not increase cassava root production.
