Abstract

Food security is the right of every citizen, including households in the forestry subsector. Residential locations far from population centers can lead to food accessibility issues. According to the 2019 National Socioeconomic Survey, forestry households in Lampung Province had the highest food insecurity index (31.03). The objectives of this study were to analyze 1) food accessibility; 2) food consumption patterns; 3) food security, and 4) determinants of food security of forestry households. The method used is a quantitative descriptive method using a secondary data analysis approach. The data used is raw data sourced from the 2023 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) conducted by the Lampung Province Central Statistics Agency. The 2023 National Socioeconomic Survey identified 69 forestry households in rural and urban areas. Accessibility, consumption patterns, and food security were analyzed quantitatively, while the determinants were analyzed using an ordinal logit model. The results of the study indicate that 1) there are no problems in accessing food for urban and rural forestry households; 2) food consumption patterns of urban and rural forestry households are dominated by processed food and beverage groups; 3) Most forestry households are food secure, although there are still around 10 percent who are food insecure; 4) Increasing age and income of the head of household increase the chances of food security, while a larger number of household members decreases it. Although accessibility issues are not proven, continuous socialization must be carried out so that forestry households' knowledge about diverse, nutritious, and balanced consumption patterns increases.
