Abstract

This paper examines the philosophy of life of the Lampung indigenous community namely Piil Peseinggiri which is seen as a local wisdom which holds many values and ethics in social life. Nowadays, it is feared that this local wisdom will experience extinction since indigenous peoples are always faced with great socio-cultural changes such as modernization, globalization, technological innovation and even the industrial revolution era 4.0, while it is believed that the local wisdom is very important in dealing with various social problems today. This research was conducted in one of the indigenous communities in Lampung, namely the Abung community resided in Central Lampung and East Lampung. The method used is qualitative with in-depth interview data collection techniques, involved observations and documentation. The data analysis was performed with triangulation, peer review and member check. The results of the study show that Piil Pesenggiri, which serves as the core of the culture value, represents the people’s self-esteem and is difficult to change, even though other elements of culture are very easy to change. This indicates that Piil Piriinggiri is still considered very important to deal with various changes in indigenous communities in Lampung.
