TOPIC
With the theme “Improvement of City Environmental Quality” This Conference is mainly discussed about environmental issues in Indonesia or other countries and discussed about Kitakyushu City as a Enviromental City Model. This conference is designed with seven topics which is could be developed according to innovation context based on seminar participant’s idea. Here is topics for this conference :
- Solid Waste
This section will be discussed about solid waste. The definition of solid waste is any garbage, refuse, sludge from a wastewater treatment plant, water supply treatment plant, or air pollution control facility and other discarded materials including solid, liquid, semi-solid, or contained gaseous material, resulting from industrial, commercial, mining and agricultural operations, and from community activities. From this topic we can learn about how to solve and make a better treatment about solid waste.
- Air Pollution
This section will be discussed about air pollution. An air pollutant is a substance in the air that can have adverse effects on humans and the ecosystem. The substance can be solid particles, liquid droplets, or gases. A pollutant can be of natural origin or man-made. Pollutants are classified as primary or secondary. Primary pollutants are usually produced from a process, such as ash from a volcanic eruption. Other examples include carbon monoxide gas from vehicle, exhaust, or the sulfur dioxide released from factories. From this topic we can learn about how to minimize pollutants that emits in the air with many treatment and technologies.
- Water Pollution
This section will be discussed about water pollution. Water pollution is condition happens when toxic substances enter water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans and so on, getting dissolved in them, lying suspended in the water or depositing on the bed. This degrades the quality of water. Not only does this spell disaster for aquatic ecosystems, the pollutants also seep through and reach the groundwater, which might end up in our households as contaminated water we use in our daily activities, including drinking. From this topic we can learn about water treatments.
- Low Carbon
This section will be discussed about low carbon. Low carbon power comes from processes or technologies that, produce power with substantially lower amounts of carbon dioxide emissions than is emitted from conventional fossil fuel power generation. It includes low carbon power generation sources such as wind power, solar power, hydropower and, including fuel preparation and decommissioning, nuclear power. From this topic we can learn about how to lowering carbon emissions level with many options of technology.
- Environmental Education
This section will be discussed about environmental education. Environmental education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible decisions. From this topic we learn show environmental education can teaches individuals how to weigh various sides of an issue through critical thinking and it enhances their own problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Environmental Culture
This section will be discussed about environmental culture. The activities of humans and their relationship with their environments now and in days of old are visible in the cultural environment. The cultural environment consists of relics, the cultivated environment, scenery and traditional biotopes. It is protected by means of legislation, collaboration between environmental and cultural administration, and the actions of citizens. From this topic we can learn about environmental culture especially in Indonesia
- Renewable Energy
This section will be discussed about renewable energy. Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural energy services. Renewable technologies are also suited to rural and remote areas and developing countries such as Indonesia, where energy is often crucial in human development. From this topic we can learn about detail technologies that can obtained renewable energy.
